Nick Larson

Director of Sports Performance

Nick Larson is the Director of Sports Performance for Total Hockey Academy. Nick is from Moorhead, MN where he played 15 years for the Moorhead Spuds. Nick went on to play two years of Tier 1 Junior in the USHL for the Dubuque Fighting Saints, captaining the team from 2000-2001. Nick was then recruited by University of Denver and played for the Pioneers from 2001 to 2005. Nick and his teammates went on to win back to back NCAA Championships in 2004 and 2005 where Nick was a captain of the 2005 team. While at the University of Denver Nick was awarded most improved player (2004) and most inspirational player (2005). Nick is currently the radio color analyst on 1510 AM for the University of Denver Pioneers hockey team. Nick’s passion for the game of hockey continues in training and coaching future hockey stars in the state of Colorado. Nick has his Level 4 certification with USA Hockey.

Derek Robinson

Derek Robinson is the Director of Operations for Total Hockey Academy. Derek is a native of Colorado and played 12 years of amateur hockey in Colorado before moving to Canada. Derek played Junior in both Canada and the States with the Camrose Crusaders and the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings. His collegiate hockey was played in Canada with the Augustana University College Vikings and the NAIT Ooks. While with the NAIT Ooks Derek and his teammates won a CCAA National Hockey Championship in the 1995/1996 season. Derek brings an extreme passion for the game of hockey and not only hopes to grow individual players but looks forward to growing hockey in the entire state of Colorado. Derek has been involved in running hockey camps both in the US and Canada and currently coaches in Colorado. Derek has his Level 4 certification with USA Hockey.

Jason Oswald CSCS

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Total Hockey Academy is lucky to add Jason to our team as our Strength and Conditioning Coach.  Jason graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a BA in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, as well as a minor in nutrition. He currently has certifications in the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as well as CPR/First aid. Jason was a three sport athlete in high school where he earned all conference honors in baseball. He then went on to play college baseball for two years at the University of Indianapolis. Jason has several years of experience in both sports performance and personal training. He interned at the world renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic DTC, training numerous elite athletes from the NFL, MLB, and NHL. He helped several athletes train for the 2009 NFL combine, which one was successfully drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Bills. He currently works with athletes of all ages and experience level, helping improve strength, power, balance, agility and performance as well as injury prevention. Jason also helps run the adult level boot camps for those individuals who want to find a fun way to lose weight as well as gain strength and quality of life.  

Mark Fuqua

Lead Instructor

Mark grew up in Shelby Twp, Michigan where he played youth hockey for the Compuware Ambassadors AAA program.  While playing for Compuware Mark won a National Title and made the finals of the Pee Wee Quebec Tournament.  Mark played five years of Junior hockey in Ontario, Canada.  Mark played for the Petrolia Jets and Sarnia Blast where he lead his team to a League Championship while being the Leading Scorer.  in 2001, Mark was drafted in the USHL, NAHL and made the NHL draft list.  In 2004, Mark received a hockey scholarship to play Division 1 College Hockey in the Atlantic Hockey League for American international College.  Mark played and graduated in three years and is currently finishing his MBA.  Mark has been a Hockey Skills Instructor at several different hockey schools for the last four years.

Nathan Burch

Lead Instructor

Nathan started his hockey playing career in Anchorage, Alaska then moved to Colorado and played his minor hockey at Hyland Hills.  Nathan played his Junior hockey in Utah for the Utah Valley Golden Eagles.  While playing in Utah Nathan was named one of the Captains and was top 5 in scoring.  Nathan has been heavily involved in coaching and training hockey players of all ages in Colorado.  Nathan brings a lot of experience in running ice hockey camps/schools not only for minor hockey players but for the adult player as well.  Nathan has his Level 4 certification with USA Hockey.

Kevin Davis

Instructor

Kevin grew up and played his youth hockey in Colorado.  While playing youth hockey in Colorado Kevin and his teammates won several state championships.  Kevin played his Junior hockey for the El Paso Rhino's in Texas.  Kevin and his teammates won the Thorne Cup (League Championship) in 2008.  Kevin and his teammates also played in the National Tournament in both 2008 and 2009.  Kevin has also helped run several hockey camps over the past several summers.

Mike Sheehan

Instructor

Mike Sheehan has lived in Colorado most of his life and played his youth hockey with Hyland Hills and then played AAA hockey for the Colorado Outlaws.  Mike went on to play his junior hockey in Troy, NY and Bloomington, MN.  In Bloomington as a captain he led his team to a 3rd place finish at the Tier II National Tournament.  Mike has coached with Stephanie Hanlen Power Skating Camps for 5 years and was a Lead Instructor at Total Hockey in Eagan, MN.  Now that his playing days are over he is pursuing a career as a referee and also plans to coach youth hockey.  Mike wishes to pass on the knowledge he has gained over the years to the next generation of young superstars.
